The Coronavirus has impacted everyone on a personal and professional level. No matter where you are, you know about the virus and have seen its impacts. Businesses close down, places for social gathering are all but abandoned, and people are told to stay inside – in some cases on legal order. This has been dubbed “social distancing,” because the fastest way to reduce the spread of the pandemic is to avoid vectors of contamination, AKA: other people.
In many cases, it means most are staying home for days, a week, or multiple weeks. For introverts, it’s more the same, but for others, you might notice that it’s kind of difficult. Without direct social engagement, many grow restless or bored and don’t know what to do. While there’s no complete cure for that sort of thing, staying indoors is a good time to pick up hobbies or develop interests. Mobile Attic has a few to list for you.
Reading e-books
Reading, by far, is one of the best habits to pick up for anyone. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and you can find hundreds of free quality e-books available. Not that we’re specific in mentioning e-books since you want to reduce exposure to others and it’s unlikely your library is still open.
E-books are plentiful, inexpensive, and can be read on any compatible system or device. Chances are you’ve got a smartphone, so this is a good way to spend your extra time.
Getting into a craft hobby
Any hobby oriented towards the craft works well for indoor activities. There’s plenty out there, from painting to building and even sewing. Essentially, a craft hobby involves anything that takes imagination and physical materials to create. If you have kids, for instance, building things like Lego with them can be surprisingly fun, and you get to spend time with loved ones.
Play with pets more often
If you have pets requiring routine physical activity like dogs, it’s a good time to play with them indoors more. You’ll want to get creative and see what they like doing, but since you’re indoors, you and your pet will both need the exercise. Plus, it’s a simple way to burn calories and have fun at the same time.
Try documentaries for marathoning
No doubt you’ve probably got an entire series of fun things to catch up on out there. But, if you want something a little different than the usual entertainment, try documentaries on nature or history. Of course, you can always rely on your favorite series, but if you’re going to be indoors, might be worth trying new things.
Try software for voice/video chat
Some programs, like Discord, offer easy ways to communicate with friends. If you have a strong social life and want to keep in touch outside of social media, give those a try too.
Good luck and stay safe. Remember to routinely wash your hands and follow updates regarding the COVID-19 virus.
